Each of Scotland’s 32 local authority areas has its own community plan. Community planning brings public organisations such as the council, the police, the fire and rescue service and the health service together with local communities to organise and deliver the services that these communities need. These include health, education, transport, social care and support for local jobs and businesses.
A key role in achieving our goals for Renfrewshire will be played by community organisations – the charities, groups and voluntary organisations that support disabled people and their families, run kids’ sports clubs, organise local clean-ups and provide many other services. These voluntary organisations play an essential role in improving the lives of local people and the vitality of our communities.
The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 creates new rights for community bodies and introduces new duties on public authorities – strengthening the voices of communities in the decisions that matter to them. The Act also strengthens the statutory base for community planning.
Under Part 2 Community Planning, of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015, CPPs are responsible for producing two types of plan to describe its local priorities, the improvements it plans for and by when.
The first plan is a Local Outcomes Improvement Plan that covers the whole council area.
The second is a Locality Plan that covers smaller areas within the CPP area – usually focusing on those areas which benefit most from improvement.
A refreshed Local Outcomes Improvement Plan and Locality Plans for the period 2017 – 2027 have been developed in consultation with communities and our partners
Our Renfrewshire is the Community Plan for the ten years 2017-2027 and is also Renfrewshire’s Local Outcome Improvement Plan, as required by the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
The vision for our community plan is:
“ Working together to make Renfrewshire a fairer, more inclusive place where all our people, communities and businesses thrive”
Our community plan focuses on four priorities which were agreed following a wide consultation and discussion.
Our Priorities are:
- Our Renfrewshire is thriving: Maximising economic growth, which is inclusive and sustainable
- Our Renfrewshire is well: Supporting the wellness and resilience of our citizens and communities
- Our Renfrewshire is fair: Addressing the inequalities which limit life chances
- Our Renfrewshire is safe: Protecting vulnerable people, and working together to manage the risk of harm
